1959年横浜生まれ。実験的な音楽からジャズやポップスの領域までその作風は多種多様、活動は海外でも大きな注目を集める。また映画やテレビの劇伴作家としても数多くのキャリアを有する。近年は「アンサンブルズ」の名のもと様々な人たちとのコラボレーションを軸に展示作品や特殊形態のコンサートを手がけると同時に、一般参加型のプロジェクトにも力をいれている。2005年から「アジアンミーシング」をスタート。この活動は今日まで続き、音楽を通したアジアのネットワーク作りに奔走している。震災後は十代を過ごした福島でプロジェクトを立ち上げ、2012年プロジェクトFUKUSHIMA! の活動で芸術選奨文部科学大臣賞芸術振興部門を受賞。2013年には『あまちゃん』の音楽でレコード大賞作曲賞他数多くの賞を受賞している。2017年札幌国際芸術祭の芸術監督を、2019年には福島を代表する夏祭り「わらじまつり」改革のディレクター も務めた。また、2005年から活動を共にしてる知的障害者と即興演奏家によるグループ「音遊びの会」の著作「即興がつなぐ未来 音楽と社会の狭間でおっとっと」（岩波書店）は、2025年度日本音楽本大賞を受賞している。

Born in Yokohama in 1959. His style varies widely, spanning from experimental music to the realms of jazz and pop, and his activities have attracted significant attention overseas. He also has an extensive career as a soundtrack composer for films and television. In recent years, under the name “Ensembles,” he has focused on collaborations with various people to create exhibition works and unique concert formats, while also putting effort into publicparticipation projects. Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, he launched a project in Fukushima, where he spent his teenage years. In 2012, he received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Prize (Art Promotion Division) for his work with Project FUKUSHIMA!. In 2013, he won the Japan Record Award for Composition and numerous other awards for the music of the TV drama “Amachan.” In 2014, he launched Ensembles Asia, working dynamically to build an Asian network through music. He served as the artistic director for the Sapporo International Art Festival in 2017 and as the director for the reform of Fukushima’s iconic summer festival, the “Waraji Matsuri,” in 2019.
Additionally, the book Improvisation Connects the Future (Iwanami Shoten) won the 2025 Japan Music Book Award. It was written by the Otoasobi Project, a collective of improvisational musicians and individuals with intellectual disabilities that Otomo has worked with since 2005.

1960年北海道旭川市生まれ。宮城県仙台市在住。美術家として活動するほかに、ライブ、DJ 等の音楽活動も行う。1995年以降、大友良英とのコラボレーションを断続的に行う。

Born in Asahikawa, Hokkaido in 1960. Based in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. In addition to working as an artist, he also participates in musical activities such as live performances and DJing. He has been collaborating intermittently with Otomo Yoshihide since 1995.

2022年まで山口情報芸術センター[YCAM]でR&Dディレクターとして研究開発プロジェクト全般のディレクションを担当。音響デザインから、システム設計、ソフトウェア開発、バイオテクノロジーと分野を限定せずに、作品制作を始めとした数多くのプロジェクトに関わってきた。現在はシビック・クリエイティブ・ベース・東京［CCBT］勤務。

Ito served as the R&D director at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media [YCAM] until 2022, directing overall research and development projects in the institution. He has been involved in numerous projects, including artwork creation, without limiting his fields, ranging from sound design and system engineering to software development and biotechnology. He currently works at Civic Creative Base Tokyo [CCBT].

1952年1月17日、東京生まれ。東京藝術大学 大学院修士課程修了。1978年『千のナイフ』でソロデビュー。同年、YMOの結成に参加。1983年に散開後は『音楽図鑑』『BEAUTY』『async』『12』などを発表、革新的なサウンドを追求し続けた姿勢は世界的評価を得た。映画音楽では『戦場のメリークリスマス』で英国アカデミー賞作曲賞を、『ラストエンペラー』でアカデミー賞作曲賞、ゴールデングローブ賞最優秀作曲賞、グラミー賞映画・テレビ音楽賞など多数受賞。『LIFE』、『TIME』などの舞台作品や、韓国や中国での大規模インスタレーション展示など、アート界への越境も積極的に行なった。2024年12月から2025年3月まで東京都現代美術館で開催した国内初の大規模展覧会は、同美術館30年の歴史上、最も多くの動員数を記録した。環境や平和問題への言及も多く、森林保全団体「more trees」を創設。また「東北ユースオーケストラ」を設立して被災地の子供たちの音楽活動を支援した。2023年3月28日死去。

Sakamoto Ryuichi was a composer, producer, and artist born in Tokyo. His diverse résumé includes pioneering electronic works in the legendary techno group Yellow Magic Orchestra, producing pop albums and numerous classical compositions, two operas, and nearly 45 original film and TV scores for directors such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Pedro Almodóvar, Brian De Palma, and Alejandro González Iñárritu. His film soundtracks have won prestigious awards, including an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, and many others. Sakamoto made considerable contributions to the art world through both solo and collaborative installations and multi-piece exhibitions presented in galleries and museums across the globe. On January 17th, 2023, his 71st birthday, Sakamoto released 12, his 15th solo album. The new album is a collection of twelve songs selected from musical sketches he recorded like a sound diary during his two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. In the years leading up to his death, Sakamoto was unable to perform live, but in late 2022, he mustered all of his energy to leave the world with one final performance: Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus. The most comprehensive survey of his artworks was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo from December 2024 to March 2025. It became the most visited exhibition in the museum’s 30-year history. Sakamoto Ryuichi passed away in March 2023 at the age of 71.

テスト用の信号音(サインウェーブ)を使った電子楽器を演奏し世界的に活躍する即興音楽家。2003年アルスエレクトロニカ・ゴールデンニカ賞受賞。サウンドインスタレーション作品発表、写真集出版など活動が多岐にわたる中、NHK連続テレビ小説「あまちゃん」劇中歌の作曲に参加。大友良英と共に手がけた「潮騒のメモリー」で第55回日本レコード大賞作曲賞受賞。以降、作曲、作詞、サウンドプロジェクト・ディレクターなどでも活動。2022年ヨーロッパ演奏ツアーを再始動。インスタレーションのサウンドソースや新作を不定期に配信にてリリース。2025年アパレルブランドDEPAREILLEの秋冬コレクション2025映像の音を担当。2024年、2025年ソロ新作アルバムをリリース。

Internationally acclaimed as an improvisational musician using electronic instruments that generate test-tone (sine wave) signals, she was awarded the Golden Nica Award at Ars Electronica in Austria in 2003, and participated in composing a song for a play in a TV program in 2013, for which she was awarded the Best Composition Award at the 55th Japan Record Awards. As the project director of “Asian Sounds Research”, she continued to explore finding a new style of expression between “music” and “art”. Currently, she is releasing installation sounds and new works on an irregular basis.
Relaunched her European concert tour in 2022.
Released sound sources for installations and new works via irregular digital distribution. Sound production for the 2025 Autumn/Winter image film of Japanese apparel brand DEPAREILLE. Released new solo albums in 2024 and 2025.

1989年東京都生まれ。長野県在住。2018年バウハウス大学ワイマール大学院、東京藝術大学大学院修了。2018年から2019年にかけて、平成30年度公益財団法人ポーラ美術振興財団在外研修員としてドイツ、シンガポールにて研修。プライベートとパブリックの境界にゆらぎを与えるように、既存の空間や建物に、壁面や階段などの仮設性と異物感の強い要素を挿入し空間の意味や質を変容させることを得意とする。近年の活動に長野県飯田市にて家屋を解体するプロセスを作品化するプロジェクト「解体」（2021-2023）など。

Born in Tokyo in 1989. Currently residing in Nagano Prefecture, Mochida completed her master’s degrees at both Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Tokyo University of the Arts in 2018. From 2018 to 2019, she was Pola Art Foundation overseas research fellow in Germany and Singapore. Mochida practice specializes in altering the meaning and quality of spaces by introducing highly temporary, foreign elements—such as walls and staircases—into existing environments and buildings, blurring the boundaries between the private and the public. Her recent activities include “Unbuilding” (2021–2023), a project in Iida City, Nagano Prefecture, which transformed the very process of dismantling a house into a work of art.

YCAMの内部に設置された研究開発チームで、キュレーター、エデュケーター、エンジニア、デザイナーなど、多彩なスキルを持つ常駐スタッフにより構成され、YCAMのさまざまな事業を主導しています。複数の専門分野を横断し市民やアーティスト、研究者、外部のエンジニアたちとともに、コンセプトづくりから作品制作、ワークショップの開発などを行っています。これまで坂本龍一をはじめ、近年ではオロン・カッツ（オーストラリア）、ウェンデリン・ファン・オルデンボルフ（オランダ）、許家維（台湾）、ホー・ツーニェン（シンガポール）など国内外の数々のアーティストとの協働を実現してきました。

A research and development team that is composed of diverse YCAM staff ranging from curators, educators, engineers, and designers that is involved in the creative process behind various YCAM projects. Crossing multiple disciplines, the team works alongside citizens, artists, researchers, and other external collaborators, from concept creation, artwork production, and workshop development. They have collaborated with numerous artists from Japan and abroad, including Sakamoto Ryuichi, and in recent years, Oron Catts (Australia), Wendelien van Oldenborgh (Netherlands), Hsu Chia-Wei (Taiwan), and Ho Tzu Nyen (Singapore).
